Location
Manjushree Vidyapith School and Orphanage is situated in Tawang in North East India, which is about 20 miles from the border of Tibet, in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. This is an area at 10,000 - 12,000 feet in the Himalayas of outstanding natural beauty but relative impoverishment.
Access requires two days of tiring journey along winding mountain roads, which are often washed away by the monsoon. There is no access by rail. There is no airport. A helicopter is scheduled to run once or twice a week to Guwahati but often bad weather makes this impossible.
